On Monday, 28 Nov, Leonard Novacinski wrote, (re discussion of the library
position, " I definitely can see your point...I wouldn't want an
automechanic working on my heart practicing as a doctor. haha..."

Nor would I want a doctor (MD) working on my automobile....I'm not a librarian, and don't intend to apply for the position...but, as an objective observer, would like to point out that technology has changed and rearranged many of the prerequisites for positions, due to the lag in actual work responsibilities and content of educational programs....in fact, in some fields (not library science, I'm sure) formal structures of knowledge are an impediment to understanding some new developments.
