Unfortunately, it does often seem as though library degrees are very low in
value...welcome to the profession. This is why we, as librarians, must educate
the public about what it is we do, and how it IS of value. Otherwise, why even
bother with librarians at all?  Sometimes "union-like" standards have to be
implemented in order to protect us...
