One last thought on the question of PC vs. Mac for scanning. It is
certainly true that Macs have been the class of the field for heavy graphics
for a long time. However, last week the imaging industry had a trade show
in New York City, and there was not a Mac on the floor. So I would again
venture that--unless you are going to be dealing with cutting-edge, high-end
graphics--software, hardware, and support for PCs will not be a problem.
Pick up a copy of _Imaging_ magazine for a taste of the possibilities.
