Well, since I feel responsible for starting this, I'll note that the web page claims "True Gray Scale image reproduction." But, again, I can't remember for sure--I just recall being impressed by the reproduction of graphics, and I doubt that a b&w image would have looked impressive. I could be wrong, though.
