Hey Bri..., Thanks for the input. I want to give the ColorTron II every chance I can to prove itself because of the price. I, like you, am just not sure the Spectrolino is worth the extra bucks for our application. J.>>> Brian Sullivan <mailto:bsullivan@GETTY.EDU> - 11/26/96 4:11 PM >>>
Jerry:You get what you pay for, and the Colortron II is a reasonable good value. There are many other products with better capabilities, but these cost $1000s instead of $1000.
I wish I had an easy formula valuating these devices. Is Gretag's Spectrolino (cost $4750) more than four time better than the ColorTron (cost $1100)?
Best of luck.
Brian

I have heard conflicting reports concerning the accuracy of the ColorTron II colorimeter/spectrophotometer from Lightsource. We are currently testing this unit on monitor calibration, setting white point to match transmissive viewer etc. Does anyone have any suggestions for tests? Has anyone used this unit and with what results? How consistent is it? I am aware of the X-Rite and Gretag products. The price on Gretag is prohibitive at this time. Any help is appreciated.
