Margaret Davidson's message has prompted me to compile the responses I received to my posting several weeks ago about policies and prices for digital images. I had several people e-mail me asking for the information - this is apparently an issue of interest for the people on the list, but I only received 3 responses with information on pricing and nothing on policy. Thank you very much to those of you who did respond, but is no one doing this sort of thing yet? Are institutions scanning images but not making them available to patrons in that format?

The Ohio Historical Society would like to be able to offer this service in some form to our patrons, we have the technological capabilities, but there seems to be a general feeling that this is fundamentally different from traditional photo-dup and therefore requires a different approach. Perhaps this is not true and we should simply jump in - testing the waters as we go. I look forward to hearing more.
