    <pre> Anne McFarland,

This has been discussed at various times on the VRA-L and should be available on their archive (http://listserve.uark.edu/archives/ vra-l.html).

On this listserve (the VRA-L) there have been numerous positions posted for this type of personnel and advertised as one or two year contracts.

Also advocated is outsourcing the scanning to a professional photo imaging firm; especially to have materials scanned on PhotoCD. We did this on a small, trial project that was funded by a grant for one year. There was a great deal of consistency in the scanning but we were at their mercy timewise since ours was a long-terms "slow" project. Overall we were pleased with the end product.

Let me know how it goes.
