    <pre> Dear Friends and Colleagues,

For the past five years Archives & Museum Informatics has been privileged to manage the Art Museum Image Consortium (AMICO). We've thoroughly enjoyed working with this dedicated group of institutions who are striving to enable educational use of the digital documentation of their collections. AMICO's formative years are, however, coming to a close, and the Consortium has begun a formal search for a permanent Executive Director.

AMICO's position is a strong one. We have established a growing subscription base, poised to develop significantly through the addition of new distributors and consortial licence agreements. The AMICO Library (TM) has grown, through the contributions of our members, to become a recognized part of the digital cultural information landscape. Collaborations with rights societies have assured that our digital resource fully represents modern and contemporary art. And all the museum directors involved are committed to the long-term success of the Consortium.

The new AMICO Executive Director will lead AMICO through its second phase of growth, building membership and alliances internationally. The incumbent will work with the Board, Executive Committee, and membership developing and implementing AMICO's long-term strategy, expanding membership, publishing The AMICO Library (TM) and cultivating our subscription-base and user community.

A posting and full job description are available on the AMICO web site at http://www.amico.org/jobs/ex.dir.html

Questions can be directed to me, Jennifer Trant <mailto:jtrant@amico.org> or to Maxwell L. Anderson, Chair of the AMICO Search Committee and Director of the Whitney Museum of American Art <mailto:director@whitney.org>

I encourage all of you to make this search known to qualified candidates.

With hopes for peace in troubled times,

    jennifer
