Bob:

There a number of good still electronic cameras avaialble these days. The one's I recommend most often are the:

Canon 570 with FV 540 digitizer

Fuji DS100

Apple QuickTake 100

Canon and Fuji units are about $3000.00 The Canon unit is analog and used the still video floppy system. Floppy disks are inexpensive and, of course, reusable. The camera has some nice features and is durable.

The Fuji system is digital. Using RAM cards makes it easy to move from camera to computer. Optics are very good as well. It is a nicely designed camera and easy to use.

The Apple QuickTake 100 is the least expensive unit of the three. It is more of a point 'n shoot camera having limited features, but very expensive. Image quality is very good for some applications. Software is a winner! Camera will cost you under $750.00.

Hope this is if help to you. I've used each of these systems under a variety of conditions as have some of my colleagues and many of our students.

Hope these comments are of some assistance.
