9 a.m. -- Welcome to EPW from Chair
9:30 -- The current state of technology in photojournalism (Jeff Adams). > 10 a.m. -- Introductory comments from each member of the group, describing the current status of electronic photo archiving at each of the libraries. > 11 a.m. -- Work flow. Kathy Foley will lead a tour of the EPW newsroom, describing the workflow of the Electronic Times, Tech Times and as well as Web publishing effort. Followed by a discussion (led by Jesse) of work flow issues generally and of specific work flow situations at the participating libraries. > 12:00 -- Lunch (on your own) (Newsroom available for hands-on experience with archiving systems) > 1:30 p.m. -- Keywording and other methods of organizing the database record of images. > 2:30: -- Discussion of how to integrate all image media, including graphics, old print collections, promotional CDs, etc. > 3:30 -- Online sources of images. AP archive, websites, etc. > 4:00 -- The "marriage" of the library and photo departments when an electronic image archive is put in place. > 5:30 Gather in Hotel lobby to head downtown for tour the San Antonio Express -News and dinner on the Riverwalk
Thursday Oct 3 > 9 a.m. -- Kathy Foley will lead a discussion on developing a specification document and a RFP (request for proposal) as well as the current trends in photo archiving technology.
10:30 -- Storage media and archiving implications of digital cameras.
11:30-3:30 - Lunch (On your own) & Hands-on experience with image archives. We will break into groups and archive all the images produced by EPW8. > 3:30 p.m. -- Regroup to compare notes after having used the systems. (Participants with early flights can leave whenever necessary.)
Anyone staying on, can group for dinner.
