This is a new on-line journal. The focus is in the area of art education
and technology, but submissions related to  access to images and archives
of visual art materials, as well as research on images will be considered.

CALL FOR MANUSCRIPTS Currents: Journal of Technology in Art Education The Board of Directors of the Electronic Media Interest Group announces a call for manuscripts to be published in a new refereed electronic journal on technology in art education. Authors are invited to submit manuscripts which discuss, clarify and expand upon theories and practices involving technological applications in the field of art education. Manuscripts should be suited to a diverse audience of art educators and fit into one or more of the following categories: qualitative or quantitative research reports, contributions to theory, innovative program descriptions, commentary, exemplary or experimental web sites, or model instructional units involving technology. Manuscripts which deal with uses of new technology to encourage teacher professional development or student collaboration and learning in the visual arts (either in a traditional classroom or at a distance) are encouraged.

General Guidelines: Traditional text-based manuscripts should be no longer than 3,000 words (or 12 double-spaced pages), and should conform to guidelines set out in the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association, 4th edition (or higher). References to internet sources should conform to guidelines set forth in Li. X., & Crane, N. (1993), Electronic Style: A guide to citing electronic information. Westport: Meckler. Tables, figures and images should be submitted in PICT, GIF or JPEG Format. Contact the editor for guidelines concerning the size, length and submission of non-traditional materials and presentations. All submissions will receive a blind review. To submit a manuscript for review, send a copy of it on disk (MAC or PC) to Craig Roland, in care of the Department of Art, FAC 302, University of Florida, Gainesville, FL 32611. Manuscripts will also be accepted as email attachments over the Internet.

Deadlines: Submissions will be received from September 20, 1997 to December 31, 1997.
