I have recently had two questions about the EBSCOhost workshop scheduled for tomorrow, Thursday 11/21, so let me give you some information about the session in case there are others who have questions.

EBSCOhost is a periodical index covering 3000 titles, of which 1000 titles have the full text online. It is accessed over the Internet. EBSCOhost is available FREE to all MOREnet members, including those associate or affiliate members part of the DESE and REAL projects. You may also subscribe on an individual basis if you are not a MOREnet member.

At St. Charles County Community College we have EBSCOhost as an option on all of our public access workstations. Students love it. They prefer it over our inhouse CD-Roms because it includes full text. (By the way, if you also subscribe to other EBSCO CD-Rom products such as Academic Abstracts, Business Source, CINAHL. etc, EBSCO will give MOREnet members a 30% discount on these products). You can access EBSCOhost using telnet, windows, or the web.

The workshop will cover search strategies to get the most out of using EBSCOhost.

In addition, the workshop will cover EBSCOadmin. THIS IS NEW. You can now enter your local holdings so that even though you are searching on the EBSCO mainframe in Massachusetts, your patrons will know which titles you have in your library. You can also customize your search interface with EBSCOadmin. If you want to have a seperate workstation in the children's section which only searches Primary Search, a subset of 31 journals appropriate for children, and you want an easy search screen, you can now do this.

As of Tuesday we had 56 people registered. There is a max of 70 so there should still be room, but please call the SLRLN office at 965- 1305 to register.

The workshop is Thursday, November 21
