POWER: How do you use it?
        Who's got it?
        Do you avoid it?
How can you increase your skill in handling it?

Would you like to find answers to these questions? Then come to *POWER AND INFLUENCE,* a continuing education course offered by the St. Louis Medical Librarians.

        Date: Tuesday, April 8, 1997
        Time: 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m.
Place: May Center, DePaul Health Center, St. Louis, MO
Cost: $45.00 for members of SLML/St. Louis Metro SLA
                $65.00 for non-members

This seminar, taught by Elizabeth "Poage" Baxter, will ask how we think about, react to, and use or avoid power. How power works in our organizations, obstacles to handling power and influence effectively, strategies for overcoming these obstacles--these are some of the topics she will cover. This interactive course cuts across disciplines and has received enthusiastic evaluations. IT IS RELEVANT FOR ALL WHO SEEK TO UNDERSTAND, DEAL WITH, AND USE POWER AND INFLUENCE EFFECTIVELY.

Ms. Baxter heads an Ann Arbor consulting firm that works with businesses in company assessment, strategic planning, and team building. She holds degrees in psychology from Vassar and the University of Michigan, where she was in charge of management development training for 14 years. Ms. Baxter is author of BUILDING POWER: THE ART OF INFLUENCE.

Registration forms for the workshop were included in the most recent issue of NETNEWS; however, mailing of NETNEWS was delayed. In the NETNEWS form, we requested registration be mailed by March 28, 1997. We can, however, accept registrations through at least Tuesday, April 1; payment may follow registration. If you would like a registration form faxed or mailed to you now (instead of waiting for the NETNEWS), or if you would like additional information, please contact:
