This is a little off-topic, but given the make-up of this group, I thought there might be a few people here who could give this guy a few pointers.

The California Communities Program (CCP) provides direction and focus for the University of California Cooperative Extension research and outreach work in the area of community development. CCP aims to strengthen the leadership capabilities of local citizens, fortify community self-governance, and enhance local and regional economies.

The CCP is looking for information on rural and small libraries that--in addition to their role in serving as telecommunication/community access points--may be playing community development roles such as:

* in relation to job preparation information for welfare reform

* in relation to immigration, citizenship, and literacy

* in relation to information on nutrition, credit, etc.

* other services.

If you know of rural or small libraries performing any of these services, we would appreciate any available contact information.

Thanks,

Warren E. Armstrong Research Assistant California Communities Program University of California
