Dear Chapter Members,
Now that Vera Emmons has kindly volunteered to coordinate ride sharing
to SLA's Annual Conference in Indianapolis, I would like to remind
everyone who has not done so already to send in their registration.
As a procrastinator myself, I know how easy it is to put these things
off. Please don't. Indianapolis is going to be a really good
conference. In looking through the preliminary program it appears
that there will be something for everyone. You can learn about
conducting "Fat Free Meetings", on the Year 2000 problem, on using the
Web to best advantage, etc., etc., etc. In addition to all of that,
over 300 exhibitors are expected to display the latest products and
services.
Our Chapter is cosponsoring an open house with the Heart of America
and Mid-Missouri Chapters. Heart of America is celebrating their 50th
anniversary this year and we are going to have an especially nice open
house in honor of the anniversary. It will be on Sunday, June 7 from
4:00 p.m. - 6:30 p.m. Be sure to come.
In case you are still undecided about whether or not to attend the
conference, consider this. Indianapolis is in our own Midwest
neighborhood! The location means that you can get maximum benefit from
minimum effort and cost, especially if you take advantage of sharing a
ride with others. Register for one day or the whole conference. By
all accounts, Indianapolis is a great city to visit.
One another subject -- Salary surveys were recently mailed to a
sampling of members. If you received one, please respond. A high
response rate is necessary in order to make the survey meaningful.
Hope to see you in Indianapolis.
