Mary,
I hope others will respond to your query. I am interested in knowing how
other libraries locate former library users.
Your situation is unique. You may want to try the Dept of Revenue, local
office, to see if the person has a valid driver's license. If so, they
will give you the current address according to their files.
Or, the big one, you may want to file charges on the person through the
local police. If they will cooperate, a bench warrant would be issued and
the first time the person is stopped for any reason, he would be taken into
custody and asked to produce either the material or pay for the books.
Another possibility is to share the name with other libraries in the area
and see if the person is an active user in another library that could help
you track the person down.
