Greetings:
If you have an idea for an article, or are in the process of writing an
article I'm inviting you to submit it to Behavioral & Social Sciences
Librarian. I have a short deadline for this issue. I will need article
submissions by March 5, because I have a deadline of April 1 to get
manuscripts to the publisher.
The first issue I edited 17(1) just came out yesterday and 17(2) will be out
in June. The issue currently being put together, 18(1), is scheduled for an
August publication date.
As an example of the kinds of articles that I've included so far:
17(1)
>From research to policy: a look from an information perspective at the
process of developing a mental health parity report / Ardis Hanson -- Impact
of politics on Chinese periodicals, 1960-1995: a content analysis of four
selected journals / Shu-chen Tu, Selina Lin -- Building psychology
collections using core journal lists: an annotated bibliography / David M.
Schoen, Suzette M. Hino -- The two Lindesmith Center libraries on drug
policy reform; the traditional library and the virtual library / Leigh
Hallingby -- Czech and Slovak libraries in the 1990s: selected annotated
bibliography of articles in English / Jitka Hurych, John Galdun, Steven Iden
--Identifying useful websites / John Clark -- Librarians and digital
environments / Bryon Anderson.
17(2) (in press)
Librarians in advocacy organizations: from knowledge to action: working for
social change / Robin Tremblay-McGaw - A survey of the organization and
management of current and historical test collections / Cheryl R. Sturko
Grossman - The impact of internet information resources on research
strategies: a case study in alcohol policy analysis / Suzanne Johnson, Lise
Anglin, Lynn Kavanagh, Thomas Greenfield, Norman Giesbrecht - Reference
sources on psychological tests: a contemporary review / Chris Piotrowski,
Bob Perdue - Women and children first: primary sources of information in
government documents / Diana Gonzales Kirby - State and provincial
government documents on the web / John Clark - Secondary analysis and
gateway libraries / Bryon Anderson - Book review of "Banned in the Media: a
Reference Guide to Censorship in the Press, Motion Pictures, Broadcasting,
and the Internet" / reviewed by Martin Liddy.
The behavioral and social sciences cover a broad area. I'm sure there are
many of you out there who are working on something that you'd like to submit
- please do so. If you need author guidelines, please contact me and I'll
email or fax them to you.
Best regards,
Mary
