The O.J. Cloughly Library of the St. Louis College of Pharmacy invites
applications for the position of Evening Reference Librarian. The College
of Pharmacy is one of three freestanding colleges of pharmacy in the
country, and has a student body of approximately 850 students in its 5-year
Bachelor of Science program and 6-year Pharm.D. program. The College also
offers Master of Science degrees in pharmacy administration and managed care
pharmacy, as well as offering a certificate program in managed care
pharmacy.
Specific responsibilities include providing in-person and telephone
reference service to a diverse clientele using electronic and traditional
resources. Providing literature search consultation and instruction to
end-users, and providing mediated searching. Instruct end-users in the use
of WWW, OPAC and other electronic resources. Participate in the planning,
development, and delivery of user education programs for College students
and faculty. Participate in collection development, and compile user
guides, database documentation, and other library publications. Also serve
as Curator of College's archival collection, and primarily responsible for
assisting users conducting research in the archival collection. Hours are
12:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Sunday through Thursday. Hours vary during recess.
Requirements: MLS from ALA-accredited school; one year minimum professional
reference experience; prefer health sciences experience; experience with
electronic information retrieval; knowledge of MeSH; excellent verbal and
written communication skills; demonstrated ability to work well with others;
ability to organize work effectively, manage time efficiently, and follow
through on assignments independently.
