Automation Librarian, Southwestern Oklahoma State University, Weatherford, Oklahoma. Eleven month permanent position. Under limited supervision, and with support from the Computer Center, manages the Systems Office of the library, its personnel, services and operations.Primary responsibility for: =B7 Analysis and assessment of present operations & leadership in future computer-based technologies; keep up with changing options available to libraries. =B7 Instruction on use of computer equipment and software =B7 All hardware in library, including networked computers, printers, cd drives, standalone computers, software at all levels, documentation of local decisions, and some adaptations for individuals with disabilities. =B7 Management, planning, budgeting, implementation, operation, maintenance and training for all computer services and systems in the library. =B7 Work with Computer Center, including shared operations and delivery of services outside library building: on campus, on branch campus, and through other developing options =B7 Supervision of part-time employee. =B7 DRA installation, upgrades, operations, maintenance, training. =B7 Maintainance of CD server, installation of upgrades. =B7 Maintenance of DRA policy file, Saber software operation, backups of computer programs and files. =B7 Maintain computer networked databases, troubleshoot as needed during= hours of library operation. =B7 Maintenance of computer equipment inventory, in conjunction with= bookkeeper. =B7 Cooperation and integration with technological developments in state and national library communities. =B7 Work during evening and weekend hours, when needed =20 The following duties are common to all professional librarians: =B7 report to Library Director =B7 plan, coordinate, keep statistics and evaluate services in area of= position =B7 develop or review policies, procedures, or assist in their development, for services in area of position=09 =B7 work at the information desk, at least one day time period, assisting patrons in use of electronic databases, internet, and reference materials =B7 in depth review of sections of the collection, as assigned =B7 full participation in the academic community =B7 attend department head planning meetings =B7 assist faculty, staff and patrons in a rapidly changing environment =B7 serve as subject specialist for assigned area(s) =B7 review new reference materials =B7 contact for automation decisions affecting services in area of position =B7 review professional literature and attend meetings relating to services= in area of position =B7 participate in statewide or national committees relating to various library interests =B7 special projects as assigned =09 Education and Experience: ALA accredited master=92s degree in library science, experience in automated library services, prefer VAX and Novell experience. =20 Southwestern Oklahoma State University is located in Weatherford, Oklahoma, 60 miles west of Oklahoma City on Interstate 40. The 5000 student campus is supplemented by a small branch campus 60 miles west, and various off campus programs. The University has graduate programs in Education, Psychology, Music and Business and includes a strong pharmacy school.
