Hi Eve, regarding your question about providing desktop publishing
services: one of the important functions a library provides is for people
who are unemployed to have free access to resources for researching
potential employers, teaching themselves to use a computer, and typing
job applications which look good enough to compete with other applicants
who have access to desktop publishing at work or home. Even a
typewritten application is better than handwritten, but it really needs
to be done on a word processor. So does the resume. You may have a
local service which provides this service but the library has the other
resources too and it makes sense to have it all in one place. When I
reentered the workforce, I taught myself to use 4 software applications
using the tutorials available on the computer. Some temporary agencies
offer this service but it often costs money and there is usually a wait.
I suggest you would need to have bookings for using the computer(s).
