Please excuse any duplication due to cross posting.KE Software is pleased to announce the general availability of the following Web-based database applications, developed in collaboration with the CTW Library Consortium (Connecticut College, Trinity College and Wesleyan University):
* Books in Print This database of 1,616,495 in-print records is fully indexed and keyword searchable by author, title, subject, publisher, date of publication, ISBN, series and children-related fields. Utilities are provided to load the database from the original Bowker MARC data. Out of print records may be loaded at the user's discretion. Extensive navigational links through author, title, subject etc. are provided. HTML screens, fields and search capabilities may be customized to site's specific requirements.
* Oxford English Dictionary This database of 291,592 records provides indexed, keyword searches by headword, etymology, quotation (entire quote, quoted author, quoted work, quoted date and quoted text) and entire entry. Phonetic and grammatically stemmed searches are supported. Utilities are provided to load and index the source SGML OED files.
A third application, the Chadwyck Healey Old English Poetry database (SGML source data), will be available shortly.
Sites wishing to purchase these database applications may make them available on their own Internet or Intranet sites, subject to licensing restrictions of the source data.
These database applications are available on virtually all Unix platforms (AIX, SCO, Solaris, HP/UX, Digital OSF, Linux and more) and shortly on Windows NT. For further information, see http://wwww.kesoftware.com or contact me.
